National player Timo Werner can never really gain a foothold in the Premier League and has only scored ten league goals since moving from RB Leipzig. Chelsea now want to trade the unsuccessful DFB striker to Juventus Turin. Or is Borussia Dortmund involved again?
So far, the step to England has not been a particularly great success for Timo Werner. Chelsea now apparently wants to get rid of the international after just two years. As transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio writes, the Premier League club recently offered the attacker to Juventus. According to the report, the Blues are hoping for a barter deal with the old lady. In return for Werner, the London central defender Matthijs de Ligt should switch to Chelsea, who could replace the emigrated DFB defender Antonio Rüdiger.
In addition to Werner, the club wants to pay a transfer fee of 25 to 30 million euros. However, Juve insists on a higher amount. Even an improved offer of 40 million euros plus Werner might not be enough, according to Di Marzio. For the Italian record champions, a farewell to the Dutchman would only be an option if his exit clause was pulled. According to the journalist Fabrizio Romano, this should be around 150 million euros.

For Werner, meanwhile, it is clear that there must be a change, according to Di Marzio. The DFB star is now flirting with a Chelsea farewell himself. The former Leipziger had never really been able to gain a foothold on the island. He has only scored ten goals in the Premier League since moving in summer 2020 for around 53 million euros.
However, an obstacle to his change ambitions could be his salary expectations. According to the report, Werner earns around eleven million euros net per year in London. Another club is unlikely to put such a sum on the table. It is therefore clear to the center forward that he would have to forego salary in the event of a change.
Last week “Sport1” wrote that Werner was also offered to BVB. The search for a successor to Erling Haaland, who has migrated, is still ongoing there. The Dortmunders were “not completely convinced” of the idea with Werner, it is said. In the meantime, ex-Frankfurter Sébastien Haller has committed himself to the Revierklub. It now seems unlikely that Werner will also switch to the black and yellow.
