Cherries – pure summer!

Cherry season at last! Whether sweet cherries or sour cherries – we love all kinds of cherries and just can't get enough of the plump, red fruits in summer. We look forward to cherry cake, cherry jam, cherry juice and of course the fresh fruit itself, which we enjoy in all variations. Because: The cherry is much more versatile than you might think.

It invites you to simply pick them fresh from the tree, but also for baking and boiling down. The delicious classic: cherry cake

The hot cherry pesto, which goes very well with grilled fish or meat, is also exceptional. Cherries are healthy because a whole range of vitamins (vitamins A, B1, B2, C and niacin) and trace elements are in the small balls and their high iron and folic acid content has a positive effect on the blood.

Whether sweet or sour – cherries are quite delicate. Therefore, they should be handled with care and consumed quickly. So that the juice and aroma are not lost, they are washed and pitted shortly before processing, if possible. As a cake topping, you usually have to thicken the cherries beforehand.
