Cherry, peach, apricot… After the plate, seasonal fruits arrive in our cosmetics

To have beautiful skin or flamboyant hair, why not bet on cosmetics based on summer fruits? Fruit is good for health, but also for the skin. The cosmetics industry surfs on the famous recommendation of “five fruits and vegetables a day”. “More and more brands are releasing products with seasonal fruits”, confirms Benjamin Lévêque, beauty columnist for Well done for you. Starting with the “Matière brut” brand, which offers an oil based on cherry stones, ideal for mature skin.

“The cherry stone is packed with antioxidants, so it will help fight skin aging,” says Annabelle Szwed, the founder of “Raw Matter”. It has other benefits: “It’s also packed with omega-6 and 9, which help skin elasticity, firmness, and radiance. These are really things that are sought after more we’re getting older.” A very precious oil, therefore, and also anti-waste! Indeed, to produce them, it is necessary to harvest the cherry stones, considered as waste. A useful duplication: more than 35,000 tonnes of cherries are produced in France each year.

Prickly pear, perfect against dark circles

There is also prickly pear oil, offered by the brand “Ladrôme”, which collects figs in Tunisia. “It is one of the most sought-after oils, and one of the most expensive, since it takes a ton of figs for a liter of oil”, explains Benjamin Lévêque. It is recommended for damaged skin. It is four times more nourishing than argan oil and above all very rich in vitamin K, a nutrient recognized for its effects on blood circulation. It is therefore particularly suitable if you suffer from couperose or have very marked dark circles.

A fruit is very trendy this year: the apricot. It is found in sunscreens, day creams or BB creams. It is even found in lubricants! Like at “My Lubie” which offers one based on apricot kernel oil, since it “aims to soften dry skin”, says Benjamin Lévêque.

Fishing is also in the spotlight this summer, especially for scrubs, like at “Evoluderm”. “In the peach, there are plenty of small acids which, once on the skin, will peel off all the small dead skin.” A less abrasive solution than large coffee beans, for example. This is ideal for sensitive skin, or skin that tends to blush very easily.

Raspberry oil, ideal for sun protection

On the hair side, you can count on raspberry oil. “Like all red fruits, it is full of antioxidants, which will ‘wrap the hair’ to protect it from the heat”, says the beauty columnist. It is therefore especially suitable for people who use a hair dryer, a straightener or a curler very regularly.

An oil that is all the more useful in summer, since it protects against the sun’s rays. The brand “Les secrets de Loly” offers a spray. It’s non-greasy, and it’s for all hair types, including curly, curly, or frizzy.
