Jesse Spencer (“Dr. House”) left the NBC drama series “Chicago Fire”. a decade in October 2021. But now there is apparently plans to have his character Matt Casey return for the current season’s finale will.
This news was shared by Executive Producer Derek Haas last week during the One Chicago Day press event announced. He also revealed that if everything goes as he hopes, the Fans finally got the long-awaited reunion of Matt and his girlfriend Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) could see.
“That’s the end of ten years for me,” Spencer told the media about his exit from the series at the time. This was reported by the industry journal Deadline. “I think it was pretty organic that he [Matt] goes […].” But could Spencer come back as Matt? “We don’t know. It’s been a really long time considering how these comrades went through life and death together. It’s hard to say goodbye, like, see you soon. It was bittersweet, but I really enjoyed it and we laughed a lot.”
His exit came as a shock to fans who had been waiting for it Matt and Sylvie finally put the past behind them and look forward together. And just as that wish was granted, Spencer announced that he was leaving the show.
But fans could breathe a sigh of relief, because the couple has not separated. Series boss Derek Haas confirmed that Matt and Sylvie deal with a long-distance relationship will try.

“It was difficult because I was Kara [Killmer] really like and we have built a really good relationship. I enjoyed working with her,” Spencer said. “And there’s always a chance I’ll come back, too. We’re still toying with the question, ‘Will Casey come back?’ That’s a possibility, you know. Derek and I have talked about it and it’s definitely a possibility for me too.”
With Matt’s return for the season finale in April 2022 this possibility has arrived faster than initially thought. But could this become one permanent return to lead?
