The eminent jazz pianist Chick Corea is dead. He died of a rare form of cancer, according to his Facebook page.

The American musician Chick Corea (1941-2021) is dead. The legendary jazz pianist and composer died on February 9 of complications from cancer, as announced on his official Facebook page. Corea was 79 years old. Very recently, the musician was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

Corea played with the likes of Miles Davis (1926-1991) during his decades-long career. The musician has released countless recordings, founded the band Return to Forever in 1971 and won a total of 23 Grammy Awards. One of his most famous pieces is "Spain".

"He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, a great mentor and friend to so many," said the Facebook post, among other things. Corea has inspired millions of people over the decades.
