Child stayed in the car – Boy (6) “forgotten” while escaping from police

A strange and equally dangerous chase ended in the middle of Krems with a 23-year-old in custody and a child left behind in the back seat of a car.

At first, attentive police officers noticed a car that was well-known due to its Spanish license plate and had already been noticed for other crimes. So the officers wanted to get the driver to stop and chased him with flashing lights. But the man behind the wheel didn’t want to stop at first. Only when the patrol car was at the same height did he allow himself to be convinced. But he didn’t want to get out. Instead, he put the car in reverse, turned around and sped towards the police car at full speed. Shortly before the collision, the driver applied the brakes, got out and continued on foot. He left his six-year-old son alone in the car – along with a forbidden steel rod. The police officers, who had already called for reinforcements, gave chase and were able to catch the fugitive a short time later. He turned out to be a 23-year-old Romanian who was banned from staying in Austria. After initially reporting that he was at large, the young man was taken into custody pending deportation. Further investigations are still underway.
