Child thrown from 5th floor by father is "off the hook"

The child defenestrated from the 5th floor by his father following domestic violence is "off the hook."

On the night of Friday to Saturday, September 12 in Choisy-le-Roi, a father threw his 6-year-old son out of the window following an argument with his wife. According to the Parisian, the deputy mayor in charge of security, Hacène Habi, gave reassuring news.

"He should be okay with it."

Following an argument with his wife, a father threw his son (from a previous union) from the 5th floor of the building. The 37-year-old then threw heavy objects at the body of the child lying on the ground. According to several testimonies collected by the Francilien newspaper, the father's behavior changed overnight, becoming extremely violent towards his wife.

After his fall, the little boy was taken into care by the Necker Hospital in Paris. Although the latter was conscious when the firefighters arrived, he sustained a serious head injury, being life threatening.
However, according to elected official Hacène Habi, the little boy is "off the hook" and should be okay "without after-effects" despite the child having been operated on for multiple fractures.

The father was placed in a psychiatric hospital after a stay in police custody deemed incompatible with his state of health, according to the Créteil prosecutor's office.
In addition, a psychological cell was set up in the district by the town hall where the events took place as well as a call number dedicated to the inhabitants in collaboration with the emergency cell of the Samu of the Henri hospital. Modor.

Violence on the rise

Domestic violence claimed the lives of 146 women in 2019, 20% more than in 2018, affecting 220,000 women each year in France.

We must not forget that the link between domestic violence and child abuse is really present. Indeed, toddlers are sometimes also victims of violence. It is very likely that a husband who is abusive towards his wife will also attack the children, and this can have a considerable impact on his physical and psychological state.
