musk ball

Musk Ravager Hair and Body Oil, Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, €170 for 200 ml. www.fredericmalle.eu

At the end of the day, on skin and hair dried out by the sun and sea bathing, nothing beats the caress of a restorative oil. With its irresistible Musk Ravager trail, signed Maurice Roucel, this one from Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle restores hydration with sophistication. Enveloped in amber, vanilla and sandalwood, the sensual musks permeate the skin and hair, while the oily texture provides suppleness and subtle shine. C.Dh.

A child’s chair

Mini Bold chair, from Big Game. Mustache. www.moustache.fr. 360 €

Twenty years ago, the Big-Game trio entered the world of design with a wooden hunting trophy to assemble yourself. An object between the world of adults and that of childhood, prefiguring their bestseller, the Bold chair, ” a manifesto of our approach to design, a shape imbued with the pleasure of drawing, imagined as a single thick line reminiscent of the famous character of the 1970s, La Linea, with a body materialized by a moving line », explain the three men. This upholstered chair skeleton has become one of the best sellers of the Mustache editor. “We immediately thought of a children’s version when we saw toddlers climbing on it in our workshop”, they continue. The tube acts as a handle that kids can grab at any end, and it’s a padded frame to bump into without hurting themselves. Mr God.

A midnight bath

Bathtub mini-model watch, Cartier.

In the history of famous watches, thetube, by Cartier, begins its own in 1912, with a rectangular case rounded at the ends. In 1958 the“curved oval”, whose curved case hugs the wrist, makes its appearance. It was not until 1973 that a name was found for it, in a nod to its domed volume. Several variations of the Tub have since emerged, giving the model its legendary status. A variation completes the range this year, which retains the Roman numerals and the domed crystal, but shakes up the proportions with its miniaturized case and a more generous bezel. The bracelet, as delicate as a jewel, becomes a bangle and is available in yellow, pink or white gold paved with diamonds. For Marie-Laure Cérède, creative director of the house, the symbiosis of two worlds is explained “because Cartier is a jeweler before being a watchmaker, its watches blur the boundaries between these two founding professions”. love handles

From left to right and from top to bottom: India handle, in walnut, Nastassia Brame, €45; braided cast iron handle, Maison Intègre, €360; Manta handle, in walnut, Knobs & Handles, €20.81; Waves handle, in walnut, Studio Ebur, €80.

The choice of a handle can change the appearance of a piece of furniture. Beyond their functionality, these accessories are a playground for creators. Photographer, artistic director, ceramist, Nastassia Brame has just launched a series with abstract forms. Same spirit at the young studio Ebur and its walnut models in the shape of wavelets. At the Knobs & Handles specialist, the organic shape of the Manta reference is as pleasing to the eye as it is ergonomic to the touch. Ambre Jarno, the founder of Maison Intègre, collaborated with Burkinabe craftsmen for her braided cast iron handle, a real interior gem that will sublimate the most banal of furniture. Mr God.

Menetou in the game

In the basement

Antoine de La Farge is a rare winemaker who produces delicious and accessible wines. He puts his talent at the service of the menetou-salon appellation. Located around Bourges, very close to Sancerre, it finds letters of nobility in its hands. His Clos de Coquin, from the Chavet estate, which he bought in 2019, exists in white and red, and is becoming a benchmark. In red, it is a pinot noir which expresses notes, lively and frank, of fresh cherry. On his Ermitage estate, whose family lands were used for other purposes, he was able to create a very beautiful vineyard from scratch. His white Clos de Davet,
made from sauvignon, offers a tender texture that develops flavors of mint, citrus fruits and white pepper. And that’s just the beginning. L.G.

Art deco wallpaper

A key player in the French decorative arts, publisher and manufacturer of wallpapers and furnishing fabrics, the Pierre Frey house has acquired, since its creation in 1935, a historical heritage of 35,000 archival documents covering several centuries. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the creation of a heritage department within the company, whose mission is to study, preserve and republish these archives, Pierre Frey offers a virtual exhibition which allows you to walk among twenty works, each emblematic of its time. Embroidered antependium (decorative element of altars) from the 17th century, lampas (silk fabric woven in relief) from the 19th century, or abstract gouache on paper from 2019, all the references selected and enriched with an explanatory text represent a section of the collective memory that nourished French taste.
