Chin pimple: how do I get rid of it?

Even without having particular skin problems, it happens to see small pimples appear on our face and in particular on the chin. How to treat and eliminate them sustainably? We tell you everything.

Barely awake you go to the bathroom to get ready. And there … you discover a pimple on your chin. Here's a classic scene we've all been through, cursing that unsightly button that usually falls at the worst time.

Acne, stress, excess sebum: why do I have pimples on my chin?

Pimples on the chin area are very common and can be of several types. In the vast majority of cases, these are lesions of acne which is, let us remember, an inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous follicle. Lesions, the famous comedones or blackheads, can be of different kinds. The pimple may be red, white, or look like a bulge under the skin, like a microcyst. If the pimple is purulent, it will be called a pustule, if it is red, it will be a papule. The lesion can be painful, itchy and there is also a real risk of infection.
Acne in adults, especially in women, is not uncommon. And the chin is an area particularly prone to the appearance of pimples although they can also be located on the forehead, nose, upper cheeks and upper back.
But acne isn't the only cause. A pimple on the chin can be a sign of a skin allergy, of a wart, of an ingrown hair, of a mole in the process of becoming infected, but also quite simply of an insect bite. It also happens that makeup is involved, as is intense stress.

Face mapping: what is it?

What if, before tackling the problem, we take a little time to understand the reason for these unsightly pimples on the chin. The face mapping method, which is inspired by traditional Chinese medicine, involves mapping the face to determine why a pimple appears in one part of the face rather than another. This is not a scientific method, but it gives some interesting information that can be a real food for thought for the management and treatment of pimples.

According to the face mapping, the pimples on the chin are said to be caused by problems with the digestive system, especially with the liver, or a hormonal imbalance. Regarding food, we often observe (as with pimples on the forehead) that pimples on the chin appear after an over-watered meal, a fast-food dinner or after the end of the year celebrations and their excess chocolate. All this obviously owes nothing to chance and should encourage people to watch their diet. Regarding hormones, especially in women, they have a very strong impact on the beauty of the skin and the occurrence of small skin imperfections. Not to mention hormonal imbalance and therefore a real health problem, so it is not uncommon for these unsightly little pimples to appear on the face during menstruation or during ovulation.

Blackheads, Mycrokysts and Sebum Excess Problems: A Dermatologist to the Rescue

If the pimples come back regularly and you cannot get rid of them, it is essential to consult a dermatologist. Only he can prescribe an effective treatment suitable for the dermatosis that causes the pimple. Whatever happens, a button that is permanently installed or that appears suddenly and that is accompanied by fever or other symptoms can be a sign of an underlying health problem, so do not hesitate to seek advice from from a doctor.

Chin button: adopt the right gestures

Treatment prescribed by a dermatologist or products bought in drugstores are not always enough. If you regularly have pimples (and not just on the chin!), It is important to take certain actions every day to prevent their recurrence and to maintain the beauty of your skin. Dietary hygiene advice that applies to all women, whatever their skin type.

  • Avoid touching the pimples or trying to pierce them. This is obviously very tempting, but most of all you risk encysting the pimple, making acne worse and scarring.
  • Remove makeup every night (yes, even when it's late!) To allow the skin to breathe and avoid clogging the pores.
  • Protect yourself effectively from the sun with an SPF 50 cream adapted to your skin type.
  • Watch your diet and adopt a balanced diet by avoiding foods that are too fatty and too sweet and emphasizing vegetables and hydration.
  • Invest in a range of treatments adapted to oily or acne-prone skin and therefore non-comedogenic.
  • Forget about alcohol-based lotions which are very irritating.
  • Reduce sources of stress.
  • Drink green tea.
  • Start a real detox cure, very useful for reducing sebum production and taking care of your liver.

Button on the chin: watch out for makeup!

The make-up bag for a person with oily skin should contain only non-comedogenic products suitable for this type of skin. In addition to beauty and care products, it is essential to use specific makeup, especially for the complexion. Even with severe blemishes that you want to cover up, it is important that the skin breathes and that the pores are not blocked by textures that are too thick or too oily. We therefore favor foundation products with a matte finish, without forgetting to apply a foundation beforehand.
