China categorically blocks WHO investigation into pandemic origins

Experts are calling for a full investigation within China to trace the origin of the coronavirus, which has caused devastating consequences around the globe. Beijing, however, denies international scientists access to Wuhan, where the first major outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic occurred at the end of 2019. Beijing’s rigid stance raises suspicions that the Chinese government is trying to cover up evidence that the virus may have accidentally escaped from a laboratory or even been deliberately constructed.

Now leading US infectious agents are warning that China is withholding important data from the world. These are required in order to identify and ward off future pandemics in good time. But China does not allow any further Covid-19 examinations by the World Health Organization (WHO) in the country. This leads to the suspicion that China is trying to cover up something. China categorically rejects a WHO investigation in the country. In June, the State Department stated that Covid-19 “has multiple origins and has erupted in several places”.
