BEIJING (Reuters) – Former Chinese President Hu Jintao was escorted out of the closing ceremony of the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) congress on Saturday.

Hu Jintao, 79, who was succeeded by current president Xi Jinping, sat to Xi Jinping’s left. The former president was asked by two employees to leave the stage of the auditorium of the congress, found a journalist from Reuters.

According to a video taken by AFP, an employee repeatedly asked Hu Jintao to get up from his seat, under the worried eyes of officials.

Looking annoyed, he seemed to want to return to his seat. Afterwards, as he was escorted out, he exchanged a few words with Xi Jinping and patted Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on the shoulder.

Last Sunday, during the opening ceremony of the congress, Hu Jintao appeared tottering as he made his way to the dais in the auditorium.
