China-Manufacturing activity rose to a 13-month peak-Caixin

BEIJING, July 1 (Reuters) – China’s manufacturing activity grew at its fastest pace in 13 months in June, driven by a solid rebound in output as COVID-19 health restrictions were lifted, results show released on Friday from a private investigation.

The manufacturing PMI index calculated by Caixin/Markit stood at 51.7 last month, its first increase in four months, after 48.1 in May.

This is a faster acceleration than that anticipated by analysts. The consensus was 50.1, just above the 50 threshold that separates contraction and expansion in activity. (Report Stella Qiu and Ryan Woo; French version Jean Terzian)
