Chinese studio Arrowiz unveils JRPG Mato Anomalies

Let’s start with some introductions: founded in 2016, Arrowiz first focused on virtual reality (Beats Fever) before turning to narrative games (Hermitage: Strange Case Files). After receiving significant funding from Tencent, this Shanghai-based studio is determined to make a splash with Mato Anomalies, which will be released next year for download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and Steam. , but also in clubs thanks to the Prime Matter label, which will take care of publishing, distribution, marketing and localization.

Mato Anomalies takes its name from the metropolis in which the story takes place, a neo-futurist reinterpretation of old Shanghai which oscillates between traditional and futuristic architecture. Here, the player will slip into the shoes of two protagonists, the private detective Doe and the exorcist Gram, in an investigation into strange anomalies involving of course a number of dungeons and turn-based combat against abominations from the breaches. Doe and Gram will be joined by allies whose trust and bonding can be gained through chapters and discussions, with the release making clear a Persona-style social bonding system.

We can’t wait to share the game we’ve been working on for over two years now. Our creative team imagined a deep story as well as a unique universe. More than 50 talented people are involved in this project, not including external partners. We are encouraged by our partner Prime Matter who believes in our studio and our global vision“, welcomes Horace Xiong, CEO of Arrowiz.
