Choosing the right parquet, instructions for use: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Similar, yes, equal, no!

Not everything that looks like parquet is. This designation also covers wood flooring with at least a 2.5mm wear layer. So, while the laminate can imitate it wonderfully, it is not a real floor.

More or less badass

With solid parquet, you can be sure of resistance. The single-species blades, whose thickness varies between approximately 10 and 23 mm, withstand the wear of the steps and the sanding necessary for their refreshing for a long time. The longevity of laminated planks (made up of 3 layers) is not comparable. Only the upper part, the thinner (from 2.5 to 6 mm), is made of solid wood.

Not all of the same wood

Resistant, oak or beech perfectly dress family or busy living rooms. In humid places, such as the bathroom, we prefer exotic woods, such as teak or ipe, which are more suitable. But some European species may be suitable once they have undergone heat treatment (retification).

In … pose mode

The massive floors are nailed to joists. Medium thickness laminates or solid masses are readily glued. Easy to install, the floating installation – the boards are clipped together – is well suited to solid parquet 10 to 15 mm thick and to engineered wood. However, to prevent it from being too noisy, you must provide an underlay.
