When it comes to nutrition, Chris Hemsworth has been advised by chef Sergio Perera for years. He now talks about the star’s nutrition plan.

Whether as Thor or Avenger – Chris Hemsworth’s (40) muscles regularly take his fans’ breath away. Now his body and stomach chef Sergio Perera (44) has revealed how the Australian Hollywood star prepares for his roles when it comes to nutrition. Speaking to News.com.au, Perera says the 40-year-old actor adjusts his meals depending on whether he needs to gain or lose weight for a role, and that his favorite foods include “good quality beef.”

Hemsworth is a “big boy”

Perera laughs: Hemsworth is “obviously a big boy” when it comes to his nutritional needs. The Spaniard Perera, who once trained at Michelin star level, has been working with Hemsworth for ten years: “He had just finished the first Thor film and needed someone to help him tailor his meal plan to his physical requirements,” said Perera. The contact came about through a friend and Hemsworth’s wife Elsa Pataky (47). In 2016, Perera even moved to Byron Bay, Australia, to live with the Hemsworths. “I sat down with his coach, who is one of his closest friends, and we worked together to figure out Chris’ goals,” explains Perera.

Lots of grilled food, nothing canned

But what exactly does Hemsworth consume as Thor or Avenger? “Chris needs a lot of protein for his body. When it comes to building muscle, there’s a lot of grilling on the agenda – meat and vegetables. He also eats a very Mediterranean diet, always with a lot of olive oil.” In contrast, according to Perera, the Australian blockbuster star “doesn’t consume anything out of a can or off the shelf.”

One meal plays a very special role for Hemsworth: “One thing I did with him religiously was to have him eat a very large, hearty salad every day, made from raw and cooked vegetables, fermented products, nuts, seeds and a lot of good fats with a piece of steak or a big piece of fish.” Chris Hemsworth’s personal chef says: “If you’re training to build Thor-worthy muscles, you have to eat well.”
