At the microphone of Isabelle Morizet in the show “There is not only one life in life” on Saturday, the dancer, choreographer and TV host Chris Marques looks back on his personal and professional journey. And in particular on the emotions experienced during the first premium of the TF1 program “Dance with the stars”.

INTERVIEW

He is the only juror of Dance with the stars for the 10 years and 11 seasons that the TF1 show lasts. Dance champion and choreographer Chris Marques remembers Saturday on Europe 1 the first premium of the show that made him famous in France, on the occasion of his invitation to Isabelle Morizet’s show There is not just one life in life. Chris Marques was already a TV star in England, thanks to the dance show Strictly come dancing. But his adaptation on TF1 was for him a stronger symbol.

“It was a homecoming,” recalls the juror. “But this first bonus fell on me a bit. I still remember today the first seconds of the credits of Dance with the stars that sound. It sounds silly because it’s very superficial, but for me it was the culmination of the struggle of three generations. “

“I’ve been watching TF1 since I was a baby”

Chris Marques then thinks of his grandfather. “He was a digger in a coal mine in Spain and he left everything to try to build a better life for his daughter and son. He left the Spain of the Franco dictatorship to come and settle in Alsace”, he explains. “He had to learn a new profession, to work differently. And after him my two parents worked in factories. They never stopped trying to improve the daily life of their children, my brother, my sister and me. “

But the emotion of Chris Marques also came from the channel on which he made his French television debut. “I’ve been watching TF1 since I was a baby,” he explains. “In my family, the biggest bonus, the biggest meetings, it was on TF1.”
