Chris Marques: the courageous choice he made to continue dancing

At the microphone of Isabelle Morizet on Europe 1, Chris Marques recently revealed to have made a sacrifice to be able to follow his passion for dance.

Before taking on the role of juror in Dance with the stars – program to which he has remained faithful for several years and of which he is also the artistic director – Chris Marques himself walked the floor, winning many salsa championship titles. It must be said that he was immersed in the world of dance from the age of 12, making him a true fan of the discipline. But like any artist, he was forced for a long time to find a job with food before being able to live on his frenzied footsteps. This is how he turned to a career in IT, taking advantage of his free time to devote himself entirely to his first passion.

“I was 21, and I needed of a profession that pays enough to pay for my dance lessons “, he remembered on the show There is not just one life in life Isabelle Morizet. Program broadcast on Europe 1, December 18, 2021. Successful during “about two, three years“, Chris Marques even became “the youngest sales manager online from Europe.“A door was opened to him and he was offered”a golden bridge to go to Silicon Valley.“A project that ultimately never came to fruition: Chris Marques waived this offer in the name of the dance.

Chris Marques made a great sacrifice

He made his decision after much thought and discussion with Jaclyn Spencer, his wife. And the money was not enough to divert him from his first vocation, or to convince him to sign “the end of [sa] artistic career.“”My instinct tells me then that if I sign this contract, financially speaking I don’t need to worry anymore for life“, remembered Chris Marques. After becoming world salsa champion, he was able to launch his career as a choreographer, then moving to the premises of TF1.
