Chris O’Neill
At the Victoria Day concert he shows himself forgiving with his family-in-law
Last year he had to cancel his participation, this year Chris O’Neill is in a good mood at the concert in Borgholm on the occasion of Victoria Day on Öland alongside his wife Princess Madeleine, his brother-in-law Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia.

There has been much speculation in recent days about how Chris O’Neill will present himself on Victoria Day. Behavior expert Mats Danielsson had advised him to just “look happy and participate”. First pictures of Princess Madeleine’s husband at the concert in Borgholm show an apparently cheerful Chris O’Neill, who looks like he’s having fun – and not just pretending! The 49-year-old poses for the photographers at his wife’s side, even smiling. And that’s exactly what he finds difficult. Chris doesn’t like the media, doesn’t like the attention. But for his family he seems to join in. Even in pictures that show him sitting in the audience, he seems in a good mood.
Chris is in a good mood
Chris doesn’t seem as relaxed and happy as Princess Sofia, for example, but that simply doesn’t correspond to his nature. He sits next to Madeleine, watches the concert with a relaxed expression. In one photo he can even be seen clapping to the music. Whether it’s just the music that makes him feel good, the balmy summer evening with his family, or just his awareness that he’s doing it shouldn’t mess with the Swedish people – but only Chris O’Neill knows that himself.
