Actor Chris Pratt has landed a new dubbing role: He is supposed to lend his voice to the cat Garfield in an animated film.

Chris Pratt (42) is allowed to synchronize an iconic cartoon character. As reported by the “Hollywood Reporter”, the Marvel star becomes Garfield the cat in a Sony Pictures animation strip. The screenplay is said to be by David Reynolds (55, “Finding Nemo”), directed by Mark Dindal (61, “Himmel und Huhn”). Garfield made his debut in a 1978 comic book. “Garfield – The Movie” was released in 2004, followed by “Garfield 2” in 2006. Both times the main character was voiced by Bill Murray (71).

On Instagram Chris Pratt confirmed his new job. “So this Monday is not annoying at all,” wrote the actor about a photo of the cat who usually hates Mondays. The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star has already taken on a number of dubbing roles in his career, including being heard in the original versions of “The Lego Movie” films and most recently in the Disney fantasy film “Onward: No Halves.” And another role is already waiting.

He also becomes a video game character

It was only recently announced that Pratt will be voicing the main character Mario in a “Super Mario Bros.” animated film. Charlie Day (45) will lend his voice to his brother Luigi. “The Queen’s Gambit” star Anya Taylor-Joy (25) will become Princess Peach, Jack Black (52) will become villain Bowser and Seth Rogen (39) will become Donkey Kong. Keegan-Michael Key (50) gives the Toad and Fred Armisen (54) gives the Cranky Kong. The US theatrical release is currently planned for December 21, 2022.
