Chrissy Teigen: Her heart is "not an empty space" after the miscarriage

Chrissy Teigen lost her child in the 20th week of pregnancy. In an open letter, John Legends wife now finds emotional words.

Chrissy Teigen (34) got rid of everything in an open letter that she had been carrying around with her since the miscarriage in early October. Was it wrong to post as intimate a funeral post on Instagram as you and husband John Legend (41, "All of Me") did? How should people from your environment deal with you and the situation in the future? The model is looking for answers.

Loss left no emptiness

Teigen begins her open letter on the online publishing platform Medium with the words: "I had no idea when I would be ready to write this." One thing is certain, however, that she wants to start with a thank you. Her thanks go to all those who treated the couple with "extreme friendliness" after their loss.

Even today, the 34-year-old worries that people might find it uncomfortable to share their personal joy with her after what she has experienced – especially pregnant women. The opposite is the case, however: "I am currently surrounded by the pregnant bellies of many close friends. And I can swear to you, nothing makes me happier."

The model says people would tell her "an experience like this creates a hole in your heart". A hole actually does exist in dough. "But it was filled with love for something I loved so much. It doesn't feel empty, this room. It feels full."

She doesn't care about the opinions of others

For the emotional farewell post that Teigen shared on Instagram, she received criticism, among other things. Such a private, intimate topic should not be exploited on social media, voices were loud. However, the model doesn't care. "The thoughts of others are not important to me," writes the 34-year-old. Even husband John Legend "hated" to take pictures of his crying wife in the delivery room. But Teigen wanted it that way.

"It didn't make sense to him then. But I knew I had to remember this moment forever, just like I remember our kiss in front of the altar or our tears of joy after the births of Luna and Miles." Teigen and Legends daughter Luna was born in 2016, son Miles followed in 2018.
