Christian Lindner has settled down: The finance minister wants to put down roots with his wife, he explained in an interview.
Christian Lindner (45) no longer wants to “live an improvised life”. The finance minister explained this in a “Bunte” interview. “I’ve moved around a lot in the last few years and had different political jobs,” said the FDP leader, adding: “My wife and I decided that we wanted to put down roots in one place. You have a headquarters, then where The whole family comes together at Christmas.”
The top politician, who “likes to be out and about in the countryside” and loves the forest, meadows and fields, as he says, has been married to Franca Lehfeldt (34) since 2022. The 34-year-old is a passionate rider and her husband not only helps, as seen on Instagram, when cleaning out the stable, but also rides himself.

Christian Lindner also maintains his friendships through joint activities. He has many friends, says the minister in the “Bunte” interview: “And these friendships mean a lot to me. You have to invest life energy in friendships if you want them to stay alive.” Because he often can’t be spontaneous, he plans “journeys together, we do sports together or, like next Saturday, I invite six friends to cook together.”
Last year, he and his friends attended a wine seminar on several Saturdays, the top politician also says: “My friends make up a significant part of my personal independence. It has nothing to do with material values, but with the people who are with you “Everything else is fleeting,” the 45-year-old continued. The politician also has a lot to thank his friends for, for example, “mental support when it matters. That’s why I can make controversial decisions more freely, which are often harshly criticized publicly.”
