Sports commentator dies aged 24
The streaming service DAZN was also surprised by the death of its new sports commentator Christian Scherpe.

Only a few weeks ago he started his dream job: sports commentator Christian Scherpe died at the age of only 24.
The DAZN commentator Christian Scherpe died at the age of only 24.
His football club FC Adler Meindorf shared in one Instagram post with: “It was with great dismay and speechlessness that we learned of the death of our player Christian Scherpe at the age of just 24.”
How Scherpe died is not known. The commentator had only been employed by the DAZN streaming service for a few weeks. He only commented on his first game at the end of December. He tweeted about it proud: “Still a little surreal when I think about the fact that I was allowed to make my debut on the microphone for @DAZN_DE last week”.
The studied sports journalist prevailed in 2022 in the DAZN commentator casting against 5000 competitors.
“We will honor your memory”
Scherpe joined FC Adler four years ago, had gone through all the youth teams and was an important member of the senior teams. His club now says goodbye to Scherpe with the words: “Christian, we will always honor your memory. Our thoughts are with the family and friends at this difficult time, to whom we extend our deepest sympathy. Rest in peace.”
