Christina Aguilera: The singer is finally back in balance

Christina Aguilera is in top form at her Vegas show. How she learned to feel comfortable in her body.

There she is again! Christina Aguilera, 43, opens her concert series at the “Voltaire” Theater in Las Vegas with an incredible show. What is impressive is not only her powerful voice, with which she hits the notes at all heights, but also her sensual figure, which she proudly presents in tight, vaudeville-like outfits.

Christina Aguilera: She’s fitter than ever

“A new chapter begins,” the singer had previously announced – and didn’t promise too much. Christina Aguilera has reinvented herself. And even though New Year’s flu put her out of action for a short time, she’s back – and today, at 43, fitter than ever. She lost 18 kilos in the last few months. She achieved this thanks to a balanced lifestyle, says Aguilera. Today she no longer torments herself with diets, but swears by whole foods and lots of fruit and vegetables, only a little meat and fish. She also does yoga, strength training and boxing to work out. Get rid of the negative energy that she used to consume with sugary snacks!

Christina and her weight: a seemingly endless story. The blonde experienced countless ups and downs with the pounds and despised her body for a long time. When she became famous with “Genie In A Bottle” in the late 1990s, she was petite and slim. “I hated myself when I was super skinny and wanted curves,” she says looking back.

She starved herself for her leading role in the film “Burlesque.”

The pop tube also cursed the advice of its record company at the time: it shouldn’t get out of shape. When she gave birth to her son Max Liron in 2008, she naturally had a more feminine body. But she didn’t allow herself any rest and starved herself for the film “Burlesque”. Her marriage to Jordan Bratman, 46, was unhappy; he controlled her and was choleric. Christina broke up – and gained weight again.

An old childhood wound reopened during this time – and Christina confided in the world: her father used to beat her and her mother. For years she didn’t feel safe – neither at home nor in her own body. Her mother left her father when Christina was five years old. But she blamed herself for the drama. She had never learned to love herself as she was. Although she was able to sing the hit “Beautiful”, which is about accepting yourself with all your flaws, so convincingly.

Her partner Matthew supports her

When Christina met assistant director Matthew Rutler, 38, in 2010 and fell in love, it was her awakening. She gets pregnant again and gains weight, but this time she celebrates it. Matthew loves every ounce of her. Son Max Liron, now 15, and daughter Summer Rain, now 9, anyway.

From now on she treats herself more gently and admits to her weaknesses. When there was a crisis in this relationship in 2019, she was ready to fight. She changes her lifestyle, listens to what her body is telling her. And she is working through old traumas in couples therapy with her fiancé. “The only way to heal is to talk about it,” explains Aguilera. “2023 showed me how important a healthy balance is for me – and my family. And that the little moments are just as important as the big events in life,” she posted on Instagram on New Year’s Eve.

One of those events, their new Las Vegas stage adventure, is in full swing through March. And no matter what comes next: today it shines from within, even if the headlights have long since gone out.
