Christina Aguilera is one of the stars who has always had to deal with severe weight fluctuations. Now, at the age of 40, the singer talks about the fact that she never felt good when she was thin.

First thin, then curvier, then thin again, then more on the ribs again: Christina Aguilera, 40, looks back on a career spanning more than twenty years with many highs (and high notes) – and a life in the limelight where her weight is lost was always as constant as her success.

Now the singer, from whom we can also expect new music soon, spoke to “Health Magazine” about her sometimes unhealthy relationship with her own body and about how aging has helped her self-confidence.

Christina Aguilera: At war with your own weight

“When my career started, I hated being so thin. I have a hard time looking at pictures from back then because I was so insecure. I definitely don’t want to go through my 20s again. You’re so mind-boggled and busy to find your own self-esteem, “she explains.

By the time she turned 21, she was beginning to see curves on her slim body. “I loved her, I loved finally having a bum. As you age, you stop comparing yourself and are grateful for your body.” But even today she still has good and bad days with regard to her body feeling.

“But then you ask yourself: What am I actually living for? And at some point you realize that life is too short to worry about the opinions of others.” Aguilera also goes on to talk about self-acceptance: “That’s what beauty is about. No matter how much I love being a glam girl at big gigs or photo shoots, the best thing is if you like what you like looking in the mirror because you can be proud of who you are. ”

An important body mantra that we should also take to heart.
