Christina Applegate talks about the most difficult moments with multiple sclerosis so far: These include leg pain and sleep disorders.

Actress Christina Applegate (52) describes a particularly severe attack of multiple sclerosis in a podcast. Her legs hurt so much that she was unable to walk or shower. “My legs have never been so bad,” says the actress in the latest episode of her and Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s “MeSsy” podcast. “The legs are just exhausted. I can’t get blood flow to them anymore. They won’t stop hurting,” she adds.

“I haven’t showered in three weeks”

The episode was recorded “months ago” and released on Tuesday. At the time of recording the podcast, Applegate couldn’t go into the bathroom without feeling like he was falling. She speaks of a “crazy tingling sensation from her bottom down.” “I haven’t showered in three weeks because I can’t stand in my shower. There’s no way I can stand in my shower,” she adds.

The “Bad Moms” actress, who revealed in 2021 that she had been diagnosed with MS, also displays a kind of gallows humor: She let her 13-year-old daughter Sadie sniff her armpits “just for her sake to make you vomit,” jokes Applegate.

“I haven’t slept in 24 hours”

The actress also says in the podcast that she couldn’t sleep during this time because her MS symptoms were affecting her eyes. “I haven’t slept for 24 hours because my eye is doing something strange. Every time I close my eye to sleep, my right eye starts moving,” she says, adding she’s “worried” because she had not received any feedback from her doctor about her symptoms.

A spokesman for the US star confirmed this to “People” magazine, that the actress’ most recent podcast episode was recorded “months ago” and Applegate is past the push phase. However, it’s unclear whether she recorded the podcast before or after she was spotted with a cane at the 2024 Emmys in January.

“I have 30 changes in my brain”

Since announcing her diagnosis, Applegate has spoken openly about her battle with the disease, calling it the worst thing that has happened to her in her entire life.

“I have 30 changes in my brain,” she said on Dax Shepard’s (49) “Armchair Expert” podcast in March. “The biggest one is behind my right eye, so my right eye hurts a lot.” The actress, who became famous as Kelly Bundy in the television series “A Terribly Nice Family” (1987-1997), continued: “My hand starts to feel weird and then sometimes I get a cramp-like feeling in my brain.”

Earlier this month, Applegate also admitted that she has to wear diapers because the autoimmune disease can make you “pee your pants.”
