In the unpublished season 3 of Sexy Dance *, to discover on Canal + Series, the singer and actress, companion of Matt Pokora, replaces Naya Rivera, the actress of Glee tragically disappeared in 2020. She therefore takes over the role of Collette Jones, demanding director of a dance school and manager of a famous rapper.
Was it an easy decision to reprise the role of Naya in sexy dancing?
CHRISTINA MILIAN: I admit to having prayed a lot and to having shed a few tears. But having the blessing of his family was very important to me. I was one of his fans and I wanted to take up this challenge. But there was pressure at the start on set. It was almost like adultery and there was also a sense of mourning. So it took a bit of time for everyone to feel comfortable.
Did you recognize yourself in the situation of your character, who works in music just like his partner, the rapper Sage?
Oh yes, absolutely! My partner (Matt Pokora, editor’s note) is also obviously in music. It’s cool to see that life imitates fiction, even if we are very different from Collette and Sage! (Laughs.) We are much more composed. Sage has lots of flaws, especially his ego! I love my relationship with my musician husband. I would never have thought of living with another artist, but I really like the fact that we are equal, that we understand each other and that we help each other.
Could Matt star in the series?
He is also an actor so if there was an opportunity, I could very well say to the producer: “Hum, hum, you know for this role of French singer, I know someone…” (Laughs.)
Was it difficult to shoot this season while you were pregnant?
The costume designers and the directors must have done a fantastic job so that we didn’t notice anything. Working pregnant gave me incredible energy from morning to night. When I’m pregnant, I’m a real beast! (Laughs.) I had three months to shoot all my scenes before giving birth. I went home and two weeks later the baby arrived. Ten or even twenty years ago, my career would have stopped. It’s a blessing to live in a time when a pregnant woman can play such a sexy character.
Will your fans see you dancing or singing on the show?
They can expect both. I have a dance scene with Sage and Rigo, an incredible scene full of passion, both dark and sexy. I also wrote a song that I proposed to the team and that we will hear in another episode.
