During the filming of the series “Yellowjackets”, the mother of two often had to commute between the filming location in Vancouver and her home. The relationship with daughter Cleo, 2, suffered as a result. “She didn’t know me. We had no bond. That was very disturbing,” she explains in an interview. Despite this, or precisely because of this, she tried even harder to “get everything done” and to combine her professional and private life. But this is not so easy.
The personal often falls by the wayside
Even when the 44-year-old tries to reconcile the two worlds, it often fails. It’s all about the right support
“He didn’t help me with anything,” explains Christina Ricci about her ex-husband James Heerdegen, Freddie’s father. This made her work as an actress and her role as a mother even more difficult. Her son always had to sleep in bed with her so that she could get enough sleep to be fit for the next day. Everything is different in her marriage to Mark Hampton. She was back in front of the camera just two months after the birth of her daughter. “Mark took over every night. I just slept and was able to work the next day and it made a huge difference. This time it was a lot easier. You know, you have to have a good, supportive partner,” she finally elaborates. This has certainly enabled her to concentrate better on her work without always having to worry about combining professional and private life.
