Christmas babies – Elias Franz Alfred is the Carinthian Christ Child

They are only a few hours old and are the greatest pride of their families: the Carinthian Christmas babies, those little rascals who saw the light of day on Christmas Eve.

Babies were born on Christmas Eve in several hospitals in Carinthia: two in Klagenfurt, two in Villach and one in Wolfsberg. The families in Villach and Klagenfurt prefer to remain anonymous. Just this much: First a boy was born at the Klagenfurt Clinic on December 24th, then a girl was born. Two babies were also born at the LKH Villach, but the parents won’t reveal anything more.Christkind has two grandpas as guardian angelsIn the hospital in Wolfsberg, Tanja Riegler and Stefan Schlatte became parents for the first time. They are happy about their little darling Elias Franz Alfred. “The two names Franz and Alfred should be at our boy’s side like guardian angels,” says mom Tanja: “That was the name of our Elias’s grandfathers, both of whom unfortunately passed away.” The birth went smoothly for the most part, but Elias will be a real Christ child. His own mom could hardly believe it: “I didn’t expect that,” she tells the “Krone”: “But my sister guessed it straight away. When I told her the expected birth date, she immediately said, ‘It’s going to be a Christ child!'” Elias Franz Alfred weighed 2,935 grams when he was born and was 53 centimeters tall.
