When it’s cold outside, it’s snowing and we’re getting closer to Christmas, we really get into the crafting mood. And we let our imagination run wild: We crochet and potter, we glue, decorate and fold. The result is chic Christmas tree decorations, Froebel stars, magical Christmas cribs and paper fir trees – as gifts or decoration.

Christmas decorations: craft ideas

You can easily make your own Christmas decorations: Whether painting Christmas tree balls for the Christmas tree, threading garlands or making pendants from modeling clay or salt dough yourself – get into the Christmas spirit with these craft ideas.

Christmas crafts with craft instructions

Advent calendars are a great gift for friends and family – you can fill them as you like. Here we show you how to make an advent calendar yourself. You can use very different materials for the individual doors: Glasses, boxes, milk cartons, chip cans or you can sew the compartments yourself.

Make your own Christmas cards

In order to be able to make Christmas cards yourself, you need blank folded cards. Decorate it with colorful masking tape as a candle and add a flame. These handicraft instructions can also be easily made with children.

A Christmas card with reindeer is less colourful, but just as cute. In addition to the folding cards, you will also need some red paint for the nose and darker pencils for the eyes and antlers for these handicraft instructions.

For this idea you take a cloth tape, preferably in Christmas colors like green or red. You poke two opposing holes from the inside into the front of the folded card. The distance gets smaller and smaller towards the top, then you pull the threads through there. Knot the ends together at the top.

Christmas crafts with children

After autumn crafts, Christmas crafts are now very popular with children. Make sure the ideas are appropriate for the child’s age. Painting pine cones or making stars from wooden sticks is suitable for small children, older children can also paint Christmas balls or cut out Christmas trees. Having fun is of course the most important thing.

And the grandparents will definitely be happy about the homemade things as Christmas presents: the cute snowmen not only make children’s eyes light up. They are made from skewers and crown caps painted white. For smaller children, easier crafting instructions such as the little gnomes made of cardboard, handprints and colored paper are easy to imitate.

Paper crafting

Paper is versatile and you don’t need a lot of experience or special tools to make Christmas crafts with this material. Christmas angels and poinsettias are particularly successful. salt dough

Out of salt dough many things can be conjured up. And for the salt dough recipe to make yourself, you only need three ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup of salt
  • 1 cup of water

Mix the flour with the salt and then add the water. Knead everything into a smooth dough before processing. The consistency is optimal when the mass does not stick to your hands.
