Christmas: this is how the Advent wreath succeeds at the last minute

Advent is getting closer and you don't have a wreath yet? You can find inspiration for self-made arrangements at the last minute here.

If you don't have an Advent wreath, you should take care of it now at the latest. Finally, the 1st Advent (November 29th) is getting closer and closer. A traditional arrangement including the four candles is part of the Christmas season and sets the mood for the upcoming holidays in December. With these tips the homemade variant succeeds.

The classic version

To tie the classic variant, you need a straw wreath, green wire, lots of fir green, four large candles, four candle holders and decorative elements. Everything is mostly available in the hardware store around the corner. Then separate small twigs from the fir green and attach to the wreath with the wire until everything is covered. A little skill is required for this. Attach the four candles to the holders and then put them in the wreath. There are no limits when it comes to decoration. Small Christmas balls, pine cones and ribbon can easily be attached with a hot glue gun.

Simple, plain and modern

Scandinavian style is setting the tone this year when it comes to decoration, including during Advent. Practical for all those who do not have the 1st Advent on their calendar. The minimalist candlesticks are available in almost every shape and color in the decoration store, black and gold are particularly popular. The special thing about it: Scandinavian decoration is simple and timeless. The candle holder can therefore stand on the living room table all year round.

Wreath of dried flowers

Dried flowers are very popular this year. They can also be found in many Advent wreaths. If you want to tie this yourself, it is best to use dried eucalyptus, which does not crumble as much as pampas grass or other flowers. Narrow metal rings are suitable for binding here. If you have attached the individual eucalyptus branches with wire, you can put the finished wreath on a large plate and place four candles in the middle. The advantage of dried flowers: They last much longer than fresh fir branches. The wreath can therefore probably also be used during the next Advent season.

When it has to be done quickly

Those who lack the time, desire and creativity for a classic Advent wreath should at least rely on special candles. A metallic shimmer, a bright color or a fancy shape are enough. Placed on a long piece of wood, the "Advent wreath" still looks great – and sets the mood for the Christmas holidays.
