It’s obviously never too early to start broadcasting Christmas TV films! More than two months before D-Day, TF1 is already offering it to its viewers. A choice which could be explained by the strong demand for “feel good” and “unifying” family programs.

My Christmas fairy tale, The Christmas medallion, Christmas lights missionChristmas, My ex and me… La Une begins broadcasting new Christmas TV films today. There will be two per day, every day: one at 2:20 p.m., another at 4 p.m.

Unifying films

It’s only October 14, 71 days before Christmas. Record broken! Even Mariah Carey, also called the Queen of Christmas for her title All I want for Christmas is You, made it known at the beginning of the month that it was still too early for that… “Not yet, sorry,” said the singer.

Even if the end-of-year holidays still seem far away, TF1 is responding to several requests according to Christophe Bailly, founder of NPA Conseil, a media research and consulting company. “There is a demand for feel good and warm programs. Christmas films meet this demand. They unite the whole family, at a time when on the advertising side, toy manufacturers are starting to have a need important to communicate because this is the time when we start to prepare lists for Santa Claus etc…”, he assures on the microphone of Culture Media.

So it wouldn’t be that early to schedule Christmas TV films. And if the audiences are good, whether on linear or streaming, there is a chance that competing channels will follow TF1 in turn.

Speaking of streaming, TF1 published this weekend the results of season 4 of HPI with Audrey Fleurot. On D+7 of its broadcast, the series attracted an average of 8.3 million viewers. This is the best audience fiction of the year.
