Google Chrome goes to version 101. The update does not bring a plethora of new features at first sight, but some surprises are hidden…
One month after the release of Chrome 100, it’s time to welcome Chrome 101, which is already available to users.
The potential of Chrome 101 is hidden in the flags
The update brings dozens of patches to fill vulnerabilities. On the other hand, it does not really provide interface changes or new functionality. Unless you go through the flags system, which allows you to activate options whose development is not yet fully finalized.
With Chrome 101, the download interface is modernized to be closer to that of Microsoft Edge. Progress bars appear when multiple downloads are initiated. You can enjoy it through chrome://flags/#download-bubbleby activating the option Download Bubble.
Backing up a group of tabs has been a part of Chrome for several months, but it still doesn’t work as it should. A problem solved with Chrome 101, but you have to go to the flag chrome://flags/#tab-groups-save to make the function operational.
Finally, go to chrome://flags/#password-notes to activate a new feature of the browser’s password manager. This consists of adding a field “ grades » which leaves the possibility of creating a reminder when deemed useful to connect to a particular site or service.
