Chrome OS Flex: this version can replace Windows or macOS on your PCs

Chrome OS Flex is a new version of Google’s operating system that can be installed on Windows PCs and Macs (macOS).

You will now be able to enjoy Chrome OS on PCs (including Macs). Indeed, Google unveils a new version of its operating system called “Chrome OS Flex”. According to the four-color giant, this version of the OS can be installed in just a few minutes on your computer and thus replace Windows or macOS.

Google has notably promised to The Verge that the experience will be very similar to that offered by a Chromebook – where Chrome OS runs natively. The firm explains in particular that the part of the code which serves as the base does not change, however the availability of certain functionalities may depend on the hardware of the computer used. This would include options related to Google Assistant and synchronization with Android smartphones.

An OS dedicated to professionals

Note that Chrome OS Flex is a version designed for businesses and schools. We imagine that it will mainly be intended to conquer the United States market.

Note that this initiative is a continuation of the takeover of Neverware by Google. This company was noticed by offering a CloudReady service to convert an old computer into a Chrome OS machine. More information about Chrome OS Flex is available on the dedicated page where you will also find a download link.
