Chromecast: Google stamps interactive YouTube app after a short time

GOOGLE CHROMECAST

Apparently not coordinated: Google has discontinued the new YouTube app for older Chromecast devices after just over six months. The people on YouTube are initially surprised.

  • Google has already discontinued the new YouTube app on classic Chromecasts.
  • Users have only been able to access the app since December 2021.
  • The action does not appear to have been coordinated with each other.

If you are still using the now good old Chromecast dongle from Google, nothing good is in store for you these days. Because the interactive YouTube app, which was only introduced in winter, will already be a thing of the past with the next update.

New YouTube app was only available on old Chromecasts for seven months

After a little more than half a year, users of older Chromecast devices have to say goodbye to some conveniences. The YouTube app could be used and controlled interactively on the screen. While it sounds obvious, it was something new for older generation Chromecast users last December.

The setting now means that you will have to manage the app on your smartphone again in the future and then stream the desired content to the screen. It is even more surprising that the YouTube Twitter team, after being informed of the update problem by angry users, first had to check the situation according to their own statements.

“After checking,” said the reply tweet, one could confirm that the shutdown was intended. The manner of expression does not exactly indicate that they were informed about it in advance.
