The Chromecast HD with Google TV can be ordered now – and is significantly cheaper than its predecessor. However, you have to do without this feature with the budget version.

Starting today, Google is expanding its hardware range with the Chromecast HD: The streaming dongle with the intuitive Google TV user interface bundles your favorite content from Netflix, Disney+ and other providers on an intuitive platform.
The national offerings from the public media libraries, RTL+ and Joyn are also available via Google TV, as are the TV streaming services waipu.tv and Zattoo. The drop in value: apps from Sky and the streaming service Wow are completely missing so far. However, like the ancestor Google Chromecast, you can send the content from your smartphone to the stick and transfer it to your television.
What you also have to do without with the new Chromecast HD is 4K UHD image quality: The new budget stick from Google, which can already be ordered, shoulders a maximum resolution in Full HD.
For small to medium-sized TV sets, however, doing without UHD resolution is hardly a loss and compatibility with HDR10+ brings about particularly good picture quality, especially on Samsung televisions. However, the most important selling point for Google fans is the price of the streaming dongle, which is now known.
Chromecast HD with Google TV: Previous model just too expensive
The previous model of the new Chromecast with Google TV from 2020 is still sold at a steep price of around 70 euros both on Amazon and in the Google shop itself.

In this variant, the Chromecast was not really competitive next to the cheap Fire TV sticks and the devices from Roku, which is why the Chromecast HD should position itself more sensibly in the overall field with a starting price of 39.99 euros. The Amazon Fire TV Stick is currently over the counter for exactly the same price as a cent.
