Chunky highlights: the hair trend is back

If we think back to our complete hair history, then most will find out: We have been through a lot of trends. From colors to cuts – and they all came to an end at some point. But some just come back, like this cute old hair trend.

Chunky highlights

On the Instagram channel of pop icon Jlo we discovered a photo that at first glance does not seem unusual (for Jlo's circumstances it goes without saying). If you look closely, you will see that she has obviously changed her hair color. They are highlights – but not of the fine, delicate variety. It's the good old block strands that we dyed ourselves in the bathroom back then. That we can experience that again …

The thick strands – or chunky highlights – form a very visible and strong contrast to the rest of the hair. Unlike balayage and Co., you can also see extremely here when they grow out. So that means: If you feel inspired to wear the Jlo hair trend, you definitely have to go to the hairdresser regularly, otherwise things won't look good anymore.

Streak without dyeing?

Even if we are no longer used to this type of streak, they still look super cool. No matter whether in a tight braid or with open hair. Maybe just the thing for summer?

If you don't want to color these block-like strands, you can also use individual clip-in extensions in other colors, for example. They can't be attached to the top coat, but they loosen up your own hair color a bit – and you don't even have to go to the hairdresser for this. Unless you want to adjust the length to your own hair length. But in case of doubt you could do that yourself.
