CINEMA: Gran Turismo, the film directed by Neill Blomkamp comes to fruition, with a story inspired by real events and a release date

You may have missed it, but last month, Deadline reported that PlayStation Productions and Columbia Pictures were preparing a movie Gran Turismowith Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) in the viewfinder to play the directors. This same news site now declares that the project has indeed been signed and launched.

Yes, there will be a feature film Gran Turismowith Neill Blomkamp behind the cameraJason Hall (american sniper, Thank You for Your Service) on screenplay and Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Doug Belgrad and Dana Brunetti on production. But what on earth could be the story of a movie about a series of racing games that never had one? Well, PlayStation Productions has decided to evoke not the universe in-gamebut the GT Academythe annual competition organized since 2008 to seek the best players of Gran Turismo capable of becoming the true pilots of tomorrow. Which means that, mechanically, we should see passages of the games on the screen. The synopsis talks abouta story inspired by real eventsand will revolve around a particular teenager.

Based on a true story, the film is the ultimate wish-fulfillment story of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose skills helped him win a series of Nissan competitions to become a true professional race car driver.

Everything should go very quickly for this film Gran Turismobecause its release date is set for August 11, 2023 in theaters in the United States : the team now has a little over a year to ensure the casting, preparation, filming and post-production.
