Wintertime is cinema time! We’ll tell you 3 upcoming film highlights – there’s guaranteed to be something for every taste!

In the wet and cold season, there is hardly anything nicer than leaning back in the cinema seat with popcorn and watching a great film. And now this coming winter there really is something for every taste. You definitely shouldn’t miss these three films!

1. For fantasy fans: “The Hunger Games – The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”

It’s been eleven years since Jennifer Lawrence starred in the film adaptation of the first part of “The Hunger Games” became famous. Now comes the long-awaited “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes”. Prequel to the cinema: 64 years before Katniss Everdeen enters the arena for the first time, Corialanus Snow (brilliant: Tom Blyth) revolutionizes the Hunger Games. Impoverished but extremely clever and ambitious, the power-hungry young man seizes his opportunity when he is assigned to mentor the musician Lucy Gray Baird (powerful voice: “West Side Story” star Rachel Zegler) from District Twelve.

It was only through Snow’s ideas that what had previously been a pure slaughter of children and teenagers during the Hunger Games became what was later much loved in the Capitol Entertainment spectacle. But it already becomes clear here that it is not for nothing that he becomes the villain that Katniss will have to face in the future – Snow will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

“The Hunger Games – The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” opens in cinemas on November 16, 2023.

2. For families: “Wish”

Just in time for Christmas time is tempting Disney Parents and children go to the cinema again with an imaginative and loving animation spectacle. In the magical kingdom of Rosas, King Magnifico (charismatically voiced by Chris Pine) reigns, who has the power to fulfill the wishes of his people. To the frustration of “Wish” protagonist Asha (Ariana DeBose), the king alone decides which wishes are actually worth being heard in his eyes. Without further ado, Asha expresses a wish of her own, who is so powerful that a star hears them. Inadvertently, she makes Magnifico, of all people, her enemy…

“Wish” you can see it in cinemas from November 30, 2023.

3. For nostalgia lovers: “Wonka”

Did you once travel in amazement through Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with little Charlie? Then you should get the new one Prequel “Wonka” not to be missed! The film tells how the clever young magician Willy Wonka (charming and mischievous: Timothée Chalamet) opens his first chocolate shop and has to assert himself against his competition. He gets support from the creature known from the original film, Oompa-Loompa (played strangely by Hugh Grant). Just like “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Wonka” has what it takes to become a new Christmas classic!

“Wonka” opens in cinemas on December 7th.
