Francis Ford Coppola is a monument of cinemadirector of cult films like the trilogy of Godfather, Apocalypse Now or Dracula. But since 2011, he had stayed away from the cameras. He will finally be back in 2024 with Megalopolisan ambitious science fiction film in gestation for more than 30 years and in official competition at Cannes film festival.
The film will be screened this Friday, so we will have to wait a few more hours before getting the first feedback, but the trailer for Megalopolis is already available and to admire above in VOSTFR, or lower in VF. The feature film will plunge us into the future, while the city of New Rome must be greatly modified. Megalopolis will follow Caesar Catiline (Adam Driver), an artist and architect capable of stopping time and whose vision opposes that of the conservative mayor Franklyn Cicero (Giancarlo Esposito). The latter’s daughter, Julia (Nathalie Emmanuel) will find herself at the heart of this conflict because of her feelings for Caesar. The cast will also include Shia LaBeouf, Aubrey Plaza, Jon Voight, Jason Schwartzman, Talia Shire, Grace Vanderwaal, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter, Dustin Hoffman and James Remar.
Megalopolis will be released in cinemas in France on September 25, 2024thanks to the distributor The pact. Coppola’s film doesn’t even have a distributor for the United States, fingers crossed that it causes a sensation at Cannes and is released in theaters in its director’s native country.
