In this sequence, Ethan Hunt finds himself on a train, but the journey does not go as planned (nothing to do with the delays) and the hero must cling to what comes to hand so as not to fall in life. What give cold sweats to those who have vertigo and reminiscent of the famous sequence from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves of Naughty Dog. Bruce Straley, co-director of the video game, did not fail to underline the resemblance in a tweet, evoking “the most sincere form of flattery”. I have to say that the tribute is appreciable… but it is not one.
Christopher McQuarrie, director of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1indeed discussed this topic on Threadsthe new social network of Metaand explained thathe didn’t know much about the video game world, the only title he really did was Unreal Tournament, where he had fun before falling on young players much stronger than him. Gary Whitta also explained to him that The Book of Eliwhich he scripted, was often compared to the franchise falloutbut even if he knows the world of video games well, he never RPG post-apocalyptic really inspired him to write this film.
Regarding the resemblance between Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 And Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, so it’s a happy coincidencealthough it is also possible that a creative who worked on the film knows the game of Naughty Dog, unlike Christopher McQuarrie.
