License Ninja Turtles was popular again this year, between the release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection (available for pre-order from €34.99 on Amazon.co.uk) on the side of video games, or the arrival of The Fate of the Ninja Turtles, the movie on netflix this week. And it will still have it next year, because we will be able to discover in the cinema an animated film produced by Paramount Animation, Nickelodeon and Point Gray Picturesthe company of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
The project had been confirmed last year, with already Jeff Rowe (The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Memories of Gravity Falls) associated with the realization. Its release date was set for August 11, 2023, you will be delighted to know thatit will be released in French theaters a little earlier, on August 2, 2023. The information was given on the occasion of the officialization of the name and logo of the feature film, which will make those refractory to risky adaptations for non-English-speaking markets cringe.
The film will be called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem in the USA, title containing the full name of the franchise associated with a catchy subtitle. And in French, no “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Grabuge chez les Mutants” (although, let’s wait for news from Quebec), but a Ninja Turtles: Teenage Years. ninja turtles was already the phrase used for feature films live action from 2014 and 2016, of course, but the change of subtitle by another in English will disturb more than one. This pirouette has at least to deserve to suggest an adventure among adolescent turtles. It now remains to wait to find out what tone Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will give to this adaptation.
