Last Wednesday Poor Creatures was released in cinemas, four months after its coronation at the Venice Film Festival. In the cast, a dazzling Emma Stone, accompanied by Willem Dafoe and Mark Ruffalo, actor to whom we are devoting our new quiz of the day.
Last Wednesday, Poor Creatures by Greek director Yórgos Lánthimos was released on our screens, continuing his American adventure after The Lobster, Killing of the Sacred Deer and The Favorite.
He finds there five after his last film, Emma Stone in the main role of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by Doctor Godwin Baxter, after the latter killed herself by throwing herself from a bridge.
In the role of the scientist, we find the excellent Willem Dafoe, and in that of a lawyer who will fall under the spell of the young woman and will take her to discover Europe on an initiatory journey, Mark Ruffalo.
The actor is rather rare these days, and it is with pleasure that we will soon see him again alongside Robert Pattinson, Toni Colette and Steven Yeun for the highly anticipated release of Bong Joon-ho’s new film, Mickey 17.

Poor Creatures won the Golden Lion at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, and also walked away with two awards from the last Golden Globes ceremony, winning Best Musical or Comedy Film, and Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Film for Emma Stone.
Adaptation
Poor Creatures adapts the novel of the same name by Alasdair Gray, published in 1992. Director Yórgos Lánthimos had wanted to make a film for a long time, and was even in contact with the author, now deceased.
2 French actors in the film!
Damien Bonnard is in the casting of Poor Creatures. The French actor who delivered top performances in Les Misérables, Les Intranquilles and The Sixth Child announced, in June 2023 on Instagram, that he would have a scene in the film by Yórgos Lánthimos.
Specifically, he plays a family man who has an interaction with Emma Stone in a fun sequence set in Paris. He is not the only Frenchman present in the film, since Suzy Bemba (L’Opéra, Le Retour) is also part of the cast.
