In addition to being among the most gifted actresses of their generation in their respective countries, the United States and France, they also each hold the record for nominations at the prestigious Oscar ceremonies for one, and the César for the other.

Indeed, Meryl Streep holds this absolute record, which will be difficult to surpass, since the actress has been nominated seventeen times in the Best Actress category, winning two statuettes for the films Sophie’s Choice and The Iron Lady.

In the first, she played the moving role of this young Polish woman deported to Auschwitz, forced to choose which of her two children she can save from the horror of the concentration camps.
