This Sunday, Gulli is broadcasting one of the peaks of Burtonian cinema, “Beetlejuice”. The opportunity to offer you a quiz on the unique universe of this director like no other. Please note, the same film can appear several times in the answers.

At the start of the Beetlejuice project, Wes Craven was initially supposed to direct the film, but the script was not horrific enough for his taste. He therefore departed from the project and Tim Burton was chosen in his place.

Beetlejuice then Batman for Michael Keaton

On the set of Beetlejuice, Tim Burton became friends with Michael Keaton aka Beetlejuice. He then offered him the role of Batman in his next film. But Warner didn’t want him because his role as Beetlejuice stuck too closely to him… After insisting with the production, Tim Burton won his case. Michael Keaton’s performance as Batman was a success, just as much as the film.

Following the success of the film, a fantasy animated television series was created. Tim Burton thus directed 109 30-minute episodes which were broadcast between 1989 and 1991 on the ABC network in the United States. They were also broadcast in France in 1992 on Canal+ then on France 2 in 1995, and more recently on Cartoon Network and Canal J.
