Judging by the many upcoming releases, it would seem that the musical biopic genre in cinema still has a bright future ahead of it. Many projects are in fact under construction and should see the light of day soon.
Among the most anticipated, we will find several films starring actors of the new generation, starting with the new Hollywood darling Timothée Chalamet who will play the folk legend Bob Dylan in a biopic directed by James Mangold entitled A Complete Unknown, reference title to the lyrics of one of his biggest hits Like a Rolling Stonealso with Elle Fanning in the cast.
Freed (for the moment) of his Spider-Man costume, Tom Holland will put on another one, the tuxedo of the famous actor, dancer and singer Fred Astaire, in a film which will be directed by Paul King (Paddington, Wonka). A role which should allow the young man to highlight his qualities as a dancer, he who at only twelve years old had already had the opportunity to shine in the musical Billy Elliot.
Another rising Hollywood star will soon have the opportunity to step into the shoes of one of the most popular American singers of recent decades. It is indeed Jeremy Allen White, whose career gained new momentum thanks to the series The Bear, who will have the difficult task of bringing the power and charisma of Bruce Springsteen to the big screen. However, it will not strictly speaking be a biopic, since the film will focus on the recording of one of the singer’s legendary albums, Nebraskareleased in 1982.
Other projects are also in the works, including a biopic on Michael Jackson with Jafaar Jackson, the singer’s nephew, in the lead role, or in France, Tahar Rahim who will step into the shoes of the iconic Charles Aznavour.
