The world of cinema is this evening shaken by the announcement of the death of Ray Liotta, famous American actor who died last night in his sleep, at the age of 67 only. Several specialized media including Deadline report this sad news, while the actor was in the Dominican Republic for the filming of Dangerous Waters directed by John Barr.
First revealed in 1989 by Jonathan Demme in Dangerous in all respects, Ray Liotta is still best known today for his role as Henry Hill in Freedmen by Martin Scorseseadapted from the book Wiseguy and following the rise and fall of a young mobster in the world of the underworld. A cult film that will have inspired several video games, including Mafia of 2K Gamesand Rockstar even went so far as to call on Ray Liotta to double Tommy Vercetti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. He also lends his voice and face to Billy Handsome in the Mob of the Dead DLC of Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
In the cinema, Ray Liotta was a second luxury kniferecognizable by many cinephiles, and which will have marked a whole bunch of spectators by its presence in several films like Hannibal, Poisonous beauties, Copland or Revolver by Guy Ritchie.
