With more than 274 million dollars collected at the box office, the tomb Raider of 2018 was a nice little success, which had led MGM to sign on for a sequel with director Ben Wheatley and screenwriter Amy Jump. COVID-19 has been there since and the tech team’s plans have changed, leading producers to turn to Misha Green last year (Lovecraft County) for the staging and the story.
Since then, the project does not seem to be progressing and it could stall a little, or even be totally abandoned one day. Asked by Entertainment Weekly about this Tomb Raider 2lead actress Alicia Vikander has indeed explained that following the acquisition of MGM by Amazonproduction of the sequel had been shelved.
