In Cities Skylines 2 you have various power plant options available. Whether coal-fired power plants, geothermal and solar power plants, nuclear power plants or hydroelectric power plants. How you generate electricity is up to you.
Power plants can use locally produced fuel or import it from other cities. Both options have advantages and disadvantages in terms of cost, space, pollution and traffic congestion.
Each power plant, like other buildings, can receive specific upgrades. These can increase capacity, reduce fuel consumption, reduce air pollution and much more. This gives you the control and flexibility to shape the city however you want.
Bottlenecks in the power grid cause power outages
Powering your city also requires an effective power grid. Transformer stations convert high-voltage electricity from power plants into low-voltage electricity for homes and businesses. Bottlenecks can lead to power outages in certain parts of the city.
To avoid this, you can simply build more transformer stations or high-voltage lines. Another option is the new batteries in the upcoming game. These store excess electricity until you need it.
The information board as an overview
With the help of the information board known from Cities Skylines, you can get an overview of the status of your electricity network, energy consumption and production as well as electricity trading and battery status, which is new in Cities Skylines 2.
It will take until October 24th before you can plan the electricity budget for your city. Cities Skylines 2 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
