Cities Skylines 2: Some fans discuss concerns – can’t be played smoothly despite the top graphics card?

In addition to postponing the release date, the developers of Cities Skylines 2 recently also increased the system requirements for the game. Now some fans share their concerns about not being able to play the game.

In a Steam discussion thread about the upcoming game, a fan who has already tried the game wrote that even with the recommended specifications, smooth gameplay would not be possible.

Unity engine to blame for high requirements

One player sees the central point of criticism in the Unity engine used. It cannot run across multiple cores in the PC and thus worsen the display of objects on the screen.

Another player, however, had no problems with his MSI RTX 4070 graphics card and played the game at high resolution.

35 percent of players meet PC specifications

Whereas another fan points out that only around 35 percent of gamers have a computer with specifications above what they describe as recommended.

However, some fans believe that they have just purchased new parts for their PC and would be very disappointed if they were unable to play the upcoming game smoothly despite the upgrade.

Colossal Studios has not yet commented on the thread. We now have to wait and see whether they change the system requirements again or whether the game runs smoothly when it is released.

You can play the game on PC from October 24th and later on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The developers have also solved an annoying problem from the first title.
