Cities Skylines II will take over as city builder in 2023


After eight years of good and loyal service, the excellent city builder Cities Skylines will get a sequel. Soberly titled Cities Skylines IIthis one is planned on PC, Xbox Series and PS5 for 2023. And the title has already been announced as available day one on the Game Pass.

Released in 2015, Cities Skylines quickly established itself as the new reference in the city builder. And quickly took the opportunity to lay a horde of DLC, more or less expanding its content. 12 million sales later, it’s time for Colossal Order and Paradox Interactive to move on.

But what to expect from this new opus? For the moment, not much information on this subject, except a desire to produce the most realistic game possible. Mariina Hallikainen, CEO of Colossal Order, remains rather cryptic on this subject, contenting herself with declaring ” Today we have used our years of experience to take the next step in city building games, again for our community and for new players.“.

More information should follow in the coming months regarding Cities Skylines II, as the studio already promises to share gameplay throughout the year. First meeting on March 10, to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the first episode.
